BUGA 2021
23 April until 10 October 2021 The Federal Horticultural Show transforms Thuringia's state capital into a city in bloom. Fields of flowers, historical backdrops, bright colours - Erfurt celebrates the renaissance of the city of flowers and shows off its tradition in gardening. In 2021, the (Federal) Garden Show will come home to Erfurt, the city that hosted the first international garden show in 1865.
HIKING
In addition to countless hiking trails in the Thuringian Forest and Rennsteig, the Thuringian Luther Trail is a pilgrimage and hiking trail that leads to more than 30 Thuringian places associated with the life and work of the reformer Martin Luther and his comrades-in-arms.
THE WARTBURG
It stands majestically above Eisenach in Thuringia - Wartburg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 1000 years of German history are impressively reflected here. But the Wartburg was also the home and place of work of St. Elisabeth, who is still revered today, and offered exile to the outlawed Martin Luther, who translated the New Testament here.
